Overview

About the Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the team building the Attendance Intervention Suite, PowerSchool’s platform focused on improving student attendance and strengthening communication between schools and families.

 

This role offers the opportunity to work on a mission-driven, production-scale product alongside an experienced, multinational engineering team. You will collaborate with an experienced, multinational engineering team and contribute directly to features that are actively used by educators and administrators. The role is well suited for someone early in their career who is eager to grow, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives in a fast-paced product environment.

Responsibilities

Description

  • Build, enhance, and maintain application features using Ruby on Rails and Node.js
  • Contribute to frontend development using React, along with modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers across distributed teams
  • Identify, debug, and resolve defects to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Write and maintain unit tests to support code quality and safe deployments
  • Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation
  • Learn and apply new technologies, tools, and development patterns as the product evolves

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • 2-3 years of experience as a full-stack software engineering in a professional work environment
  • Foundational experience with Ruby on Rails and modern web development
  • Working knowledge of Node.js and RESTful applications
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL concepts

Technical Environment

  • Ruby on Rails
  • Node.js
  • React
  • PostgreSQL and other relational databases
  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript / TypeScript
  • AWS 
  • Exposure to AngularJS is a plus

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $56,100 - $111,800 USD. This compensation range is specific to the United States and it incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
